PROJECT UPDATES
November 25, 2025 | Main Avenue South to 22nd Avenue South
- The Contractor has completed all concrete work and the Shared Use Path is open for use from Main Avenue South to Branch Creek Drive.
- A short segment of Shared Use Path near Fischback Soccer Park will be revisited by the Contractor in early December and will cause a secondary short-term closure.
- The Contractor has completed all concrete work from Branch Creek Drive to 22nd Avenue South, but the Shared Use Path is not yet opened for use.
- Topsoil placement, seeding and general cleanup is currently taking place between Branch Creek Drive and 22nd Avenue South.
November 3, 2025 | Main Avenue South to 22nd Avenue South
- The Contractor has completed all mainline concrete work.
- All concrete work from Main Avenue South through Branch Creek Drive has been completed.
- Remaining driveways and curb ramps from Branch Creek to 22nd Ave S will be formed and poured by hand in the upcoming weeks.
- Topsoil placement, seeding and general cleanup will follow after all concrete and black dirt work is finished.
October 20, 2025 | Main Avenue South to 22nd Avenue South
- The contractor has completed all mainline sidewalk concrete work from Main Avenue South through Branch Creek Drive.
- Curb ramps at the Main Avenue/20th Street intersection remain to be completed. Crews are waiting to grind the existing curb before pouring the new ramps.
- Two crossing tie-ins will be poured at the same time as the curb ramps.
- All driveways have been poured. Cones will remain in place for a few days to allow for proper curing.
- Striping work at the Medary Avenue/20th Street intersection will be completed this week.
- Removal work is complete from Branch Creek Drive to 22nd Avenue South, and base course preparation is nearly finished. The contractor plans to begin sidewalk installation in this area by mid week, progressing eastward in short segments.
- Topsoil placement, seeding, and general cleanup will continue over the coming weeks as final restoration work is completed.
October 3rd, 2025 | Branch Creek Drive to 22nd Avenue South
- The Contractor has started removal work at Branch Creek Drive and will continue East until they reach 22nd Avenue South.
- Sidewalk installation will occur behind the removal and base course preparation work, being completed in block-by-block segments.
- Concrete for driveways and curb ramps will be formed and installed by hand after all the mainline sidewalk is installed with a machine.
- Pedestrian access along the south boulevard of 20th Street South within the construction area will be unavailable during this time.
- Minor traffic impacts are expected on 20th Street as materials are removed from and delivered to the site.
- Business and Private Property access will remain open, though driveways may be narrowed or shifted to temporary locations while new concrete is being installed. The Contractor will contact each property owner to identify access plans.
September 10th, 2025 | Main Avenue South to Branch Creek Drive
- The Contractor has started removal work from Main Avenue South to Medary Avenue.
- Work will be completed in short segments, with removals and sidewalk preparation taking place followed by concrete sidewalk installation.
- Concrete for driveways and curb ramps will be formed and installed by hand after all the mainline sidewalk is installed with a machine.
- Pedestrian access along the south boulevard of 20th Street South within the construction area will be unavailable during this time.
- Minor traffic impacts are expected on 20th Street as materials are removed from and delivered to the site.
- Business access will remain open, though driveways may be narrowed or shifted to temporary locations while new concrete is being installed.
WHAT TO EXPECT MOVING FORWARD
- Changes and disruptions in the project area: Short term (7 days or less) lane closures on Main Avenue, Medary Avenue, 20th Street South, and Tallgrass Parkway are likely at various times throughout the project. Private driveways will require short term (7 days or less) half-width closures.
- Yard Disruption: Minor
- Sprinkler System Disruption: Possible
- Special Accommodations: Pedestrian access will be moved to the sidewalk along the north side of 20th Street South for the duration of the project.
