Project Update September 23, 2024
Wednesday, September 25, the contractor will begin repairing areas of settlement between 22nd Ave and Tanbury Lane.

Project Update June 20, 2024
The project is substantially complete and open to traffic. The Contractor will be in the area performing punch list items and final clean up. Please be aware of workers and equipment.
Project Update May 31, 2024
The Contractor has completed the mill and overlay. Remaining work includes installing permanent pavement markings and cleanup. The street will remain open during this work. Please take care around workers and equipment.
Project Update May 20, 2024
The Contractor will start mill and overlay operations between Main Ave and Windermere Way on May 23, 2024.
20th St S will NOT have a full roadway closure, only temporary lane closures.
- Signage and flaggers will be present. Please take care around workers and equipment.
- Through traffic should use alternate routes and avoid the construction area if possible.
2024 Initial Status:
As a result of delays during the 2023 construction season, some tasks were reserved for completion this year. These tasks include:
- ADA Curb Ramp upgrades on 20th St S/Eberlein, 20th St S/Oriole, and 20th St S/7th Ave intersections.
- Asphalt Mill and Overlay on 20th St S between Windermere Way and Main Ave S.
- Other miscellaneous work including pavement markings, seeding, sprinkler repair, and cleanup.
Full roadway closures are not anticipated, but there will be lane closures during the mill and overlay.
Overview
Project Description:
Brookings Municipal Utilities is installing a new 20"-diameter transmission watermain on 20th St S from 22nd Ave S to the water tower on Main Ave S. The gravity sewer on 20th St S from Medary Ave to Tanbury Lane will be upsized from 8" to 10". There will also be road resurfacing (mill and overlay).
Why the Project:
With the population of Brookings steadily rising, this watermain will help provide the water needed to support residents. It will connect to the upcoming new Water Treatment Plant.
