About Brookings Community Construction

Brookings Community Construction was created as a central place for residents to stay informed about construction projects throughout the community. By bringing together updates from the City of Brookings and Brookings Municipal Utilities, this site offers a single source to understand the work taking place across our city and neighborhoods.

Our goal is to keep the public informed while helping residents understand the purpose behind these projects and what they mean for the future of Brookings. While construction can bring temporary disruption, these improvements are essential to strengthening the infrastructure that supports our homes, businesses, and daily lives.

The City of Brookings and Brookings Municipal Utilities are committed to reinvesting in the community, helping ensure Brookings remains a strong and vibrant place to live, work, and grow.

Investing in Brookings

Improving streets, stormwater systems, and community infrastructure to protect public safety and support long-term growth.

$8 Million
invested annually in infrastructure improvements.

Strengthening the backbone of Brookings through reliable electric, water, wastewater, and telecommunications services.

$2.6 Million
returned annually to the City’s general fund.

Delivering Progress Through Investment

City of Brookings

The City of Brookings invests in streets, stormwater systems, and infrastructure to protect public safety, support economic vitality, and maintain the assets our community relies on every day. Proactive maintenance improves roadway safety, extends pavement life, reduces long-term costs, and protects homes and businesses from flooding.

Through careful planning and coordination with Brookings Municipal Utilities, the City is able to maximize infrastructure improvements while minimizing disruption and costly reconstruction projects.

Brookings Municipal Utilities (BMU)

BMU is a community-owned utility, meaning its purpose is directly tied to strengthening the community it serves. BMU provides reliable electric, water, wastewater, and telecommunications services while continually reinvesting in the infrastructure that supports these essential systems.

Because Brookings residents are the utility’s owners, reinvestment is a core responsibility. BMU focuses on long-term upgrades and system improvements that strengthen the backbone of the city’s essential services and support future growth.
