Project Update September 6, 2024
The project is substantially complete and will be open to traffic today, Friday September 6. The Contractor will be in the area performing punch list items and final clean up, some of which may require temporary lane closures. Please be aware of workers and equipment.
Project Update August 16, 2024
- Base course work on University Blvd has been completed. The contractor will continue to work on subgrade prep and base course installation on 22nd Ave.
- The concrete contractor will begin curb and gutter work on University Blvd.
Project Update July 26, 2024
- Due to weather conditions work has been slowed due to wet subgrade. The contractor is currently working on subgrade preparation.
Project Update July 11, 2024
- The sanitary sewer installation is now complete.
- The Contractor will continue with road subgrade preparation, base course, and curb and gutter.
Project Update June 20, 2024
The Contractor is continuing work on the sanitary sewer installation near 22nd Ave/Miller Park Way. In the next two weeks, we anticipate the Contractor finishing the sanitary sewer and starting subgrade preparation.
Project Update May 31, 2024
The Contractor is working on sanitary sewer installation near the intersection of 22nd Avenue. Once sanitary sewer installation is complete on University Boulevard, the Contractor will move north with sanitary sewer installation on 22nd Avenue towards Miller Park Way.
- Please continue to observe the signed detour.
Project Update May 16, 2024
22nd Ave will close on Tuesday May 21 from 10th St to Research Park Way.
- 22nd Ave will remain closed for the remainder of the project.
- University Blvd from the Performing Arts Center to 22nd Ave continues to remain closed.
- Signed detours will be in place.
Project Update May 3, 2024
University Blvd will close on May 6 from the Performing Arts Center to 22nd Ave.
- 22nd Ave will remain open until late May.
- The sidewalk along University Blvd will remain open until after the Brookings Marathon (May 11).
- A signed detour will be in place.
What to expect moving forward:
- Construction is planned to begin as conditions permit.
- SDSU move-in will be affected. SDSU is aware and planning accordingly.
Changes and disruptions in the project area:
- University Blvd and 22nd Ave will be intermittently closed. Observe detour routes.
- No disruptions to services (mail, garbage, utilities, etc.) are planned at the moment. This is subject to change.
Overview
Project Description:
A new sanitary sewer pipe is being installed along University Boulevard and segments of 22nd Ave from University Blvd to Miller Pkwy (entrance to Research Park). The 11th St watermain project will coincide with this project.
Why the Project:
Growth in the area requires increased capacity for the sanitary sewer system. This project provides additional capacity and sets up future expansions if necessary.
