Project Update June 5, 2025

The City of Brookings is beginning its annual slurry seal/chip seal project starting Monday, June 9, 2025, weather permitting.

What is Happening?
Slurry seal is a protective street surface treatment designed to extend pavement life. This year’s application uses an improved formula to enhance durability. Work is expected to take approximately 6 working days.

Where is the Work Taking Place?

Please refer to the project map to see which streets are included. Streets will be temporarily closed during application.

 Schedule Details
• Downtown and 8th St S: Work occurs at night (Mon–Wed)
• All other areas: Work occurs during the day
• Once sealed, roads will reopen as soon as the surface sets
• Line painting will follow within two weeks of road reopening

Parking & Traffic Impact
• “No Parking” signs will be placed in advance—do not park in work zones when signs are posted
• Traffic delays should be expected
• Flaggers will assist drivers at the ends of each block
• Access to private property and boulevards will remain unaffected

 Reminders
• Follow posted signs and plan alternate routes if possible
• Your cooperation helps ensure safety and efficiency

Thank you for your patience and support as we work to maintain our city streets!
