Village Square Channel
The City of Brookings is improving the drainage channel in the Village Square Mall and Apartments area by replacing the existing valley gutter and retaining walls with a new concrete channel. The current channel bottom and retaining walls are shifting and deteriorating, reducing performance and requiring reconstruction to restore proper stormwater conveyance and allow for easier maintenance.

What to expect moving forward: 

· Temporary road closures may occur. 

· Access road from 8th Street to the Village Square area will be closed temporarily during construction. 

15th Street S & 7th S Avenue Detention Pond
The City of Brookings is improving erosion protection at detention pond inlets to repair existing damage and reduce future erosion. Areas where stormwater enters the pond have experienced significant erosion, creating safety concerns and impacting the pond’s ability to manage stormwater. This erosion has undermined sections of the concrete valley gutter and exposed portions of the storm sewer pipe.

What to expect moving forward: 

· Temporary closures may occur for site access by the Contractor.
