BROOKINGS COUNTY BOX CULVERT REPLACEMENT

Project Details/Updates

Update July 20, 2023:

  • The box culvert replacement is complete, along with grading, paving, and erosion control.
  • Striping and permanent sign installation is tentatively planned for completion in the coming weeks.
  • 469th Ave is now open to the public. Use caution as workers may be present in the project area for final details, and the centerline is not marked (as of the date of this post).
  • The detour route for the 44th St S project is still in effect and must be observed until further notice.

Update June 14, 2023:

Midwest Contracting, the contractor, plans to close the road down starting Wednesday, June 14.

Update May 18, 2023:

Midwest Contracting has proposed the following project schedule:

  • They are anticipating closing the roadway (469th Ave) and beginning work on June 12.
  • Construction will be approximately 7 weeks.

What to expect moving forward:

  • The detour route uses 22nd Ave S, 32nd St S, and Main Ave S.

Changes and disruptions in the project area:

  • 469th Ave will be closed. Observe the detour route. Note that 44th St S will be closed at the same time for the BMU Sanitary Sewer Interceptor project occurring simultaneously. This is to avoid multiple road closures and longer detour durations.
